Indigenous Writer & Producer

A proud member of the NunatuKavut community of Goose Bay, Labrador, Mo (Maurice) Thevenet

has spent most of his life creating memorable places, experiences and stories.  After

graduating from Concordia University's Creative Writing Program he launched his career as a head writer for a nationally televised soap opera, Time of Your Life, renowned for being Canada's first daily syndicated soap opera, followed shortly after by two feature films, then

years of writing both commercially and personally.  A recipient of FUND (Harold Greenberg Fund), he is currently writing for JerryCo Animations' superhero series DreamCatchers airing on APTN in 2021, and working as Creative Consultant and Script Editor on the Indigenous language animated feature Sedna, Empress of the Sea.  His years of collaborating with other producers has inspired him to establish his own production company dedicated to promoting Indigenous talent for a domestic and international audience.

DARK CIRCLES 

Drawing on the success of series such as Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone, Labrador Rose Films' debut project, DARK CIRCLES, currently in development, is an Indigenous themed, live-action anthology science fiction series about a dystopian future.  Featuring Indigenous characters, settings and story lines, the series aims to provide an Indigenous perspective on this genre.  Taking place within 13 distinct indigenous communities across Canada, the series showcases emerging and established Indigenous writers, directors, producers, cast, and crew while celebrating Indigenous creativity.
